All off topic discussions go here. Everything from the funny thing your cat did to your favorite tv shows. Non-programming computer questions are ok too.
Now that Chris mentioned it, the forum hit my eye too..
I mean, no problem with using existing forums, but I hate it when half the sites with forums don't bother to bring the forum in sync with rest of the site's graphical style is annoying, and makes it harder to mentally tell one forum from the others.
That, and PhpBB no exactly being my favourite forum software, for reasons which should be obvious.
... first off, mark as read data isn't accurate, when you logout or login it erases your mark as read data, so you don't know what you have or have not read.
If you delete your cookie, it looses the mark as read data.
I don't like the style of it, and creating and changing skins with it is harder than with other board systems, so I see alot of phpBB's that look identical.
I see tons of security holes with phpBB, and quite often too.
It's coded poorly, they even hide their bad coding by telling php to ignore their improper coding style instead of giving notices and warnings.
I can go on... but these are the major things that irk me about phpBB.
Well yeah... but alot of systems are much better than phpBB. phpBB is one of the lowest on my list of boards... there is alot of systems I would use before I would ever use phpBB.
