Its easy to crack it. just remeber the following rules for TOEFL

1. thou shall be good at understanding English movies. ::)
2. thou shall be very much be good on concentrating when two people speak.
3. the exam is gruesome in time limits so thou shall have an appetite to sit and think. :D
4. be good wth grammar, not what a verb is or what a noun is ? you should be good at judging the correctness of the sentences thats all.
5. hear lots of practice tapes if you have them. recommended ones are "Cliffs toefl".
6. Donot prepare for toefl if you are giving GRE too. most parts of Toefl will get covered in GRE except the listening part.

I did prepare TOEFL studying GRE and got 273 on the CBT. ;D

GRE Rules and more tips coming on later. :D ;) :)

GRE and TOEFL are tests provided by an American Company ETS for giving points to usually students for as a measure point of their ability academically. It is a must for students appyling for universities in US and Canada and from a non-english speaking country. Other country universities like in England &Australia also consider the scores in GRE and TOEFL.

by the way they mean
GRE- graduate record examination
TOEFL -Test Of English as a Foreign Language.

Well, I am definitely terrified by the acronym synonym thingz, I have to memorize about a thousand of new words well thats what I CANT do and I hate to do... Well ,"Im in a terrible trouble and I need help" Do you now what:
-They make you to pass university entrance exams (called oss in our country) to get a good point and attend a good undergraduate learning.
After that:
-They make you study for 4 years to study hard to get good CGPA
After that:
-They make you to study for these bloody English test to get a good score so that you can attend for graduate studies in US or Canada or wherever (US more preferred)
After that:
-They make you study for your master`s and pHD thesis for about 6 years with no real holidays, professor is ready to blow your @$$ and you have to lick his/her @$$ so that you can become a good academic personal.
After that:
-You become some kind of antisocial, SM person. Maybe you will have lots of money but with an average wife and two kids but after all you are happy and proud of what you have done in all of your life, if you are lucky you can punish two students by suspending them from university by disciplinary action. Cool!!!

You will have to probably master abt 3500 words on the high frequency words. I think i have a e-version of those words.
Getting abt 550 up on verbal is good cos' that much percentile people are considered above 70% thats enough for a good college i suppose.
By the way what u say is true. U have to slog just for what you want. But thats the fact of pursuing an American dream. It sucks.

hi,
These r some gr8 sites having good GRE?TOEFL information.

1. number2
2. Princeton Review
3. 800 Score

i preferred number2, cos it has a very easy interface but best of all it has a score saving mechanism with which you can refer your score even after months. And it also has a very relevant database.

DOWNLOAD.COM also has some good software regarding GRE. I will have to look for the site from where i downloaded some wordlists. Though i have uploaded them here1 and here2.

I am also making compiled list on how to answer on the Analytical essay section on GRE. Will prepare it in a day or two. Will mail that if u want.
