IP address tracking

I read somewhere the forum software keeps track of which user is logged in with which IP address. But what about browsing the site as a guest? Does the forum software store the IP addresses of guests?

At least last time I mucked around with phpBB, nope. It maintains a list of IP addresses from which users logged in, but not of guests.
