LXDE isn't a window manager. LXDE ships with Openbox for its WM.
Anyway, to answer the poll question, I deved on Compiz for a bit and I've stuck with it since. It's been a major inspiration for my own compositor / window server.

Fluxbox / dwm.exe (yes, ignoring 'GNU/Linux' remark is kind of a ~bad joke) + screen.

Best way of managing all the windows? gnome-panel
Seriously, the window decorations are just a part of the experience - as long as they are not broken. Metacity works fine in that regard.

To be fair there is more to window management than just decorations. Tiling window managers operate quite different compared to the norm.

KDE. I switched from Windows 7 to Kubuntu a few months ago, and I chose KDE as it had most of the things I love about the Windows 7 desktop environment. Hopefully sometime I'll get round to compiling KDE myself, and I'll try and make it even better (for my purposes) than Win7

I've been using Fluxbox for about 5 years. It doesn't do that much, but I've never had a problem with it. I mostly just fullscreen things (chrome/gvim/xterm).

I've lost track of what is a window manager and what is a desktop manager and what is a library and it's just way too complicated.
In any case, I use
Cinnamon. It's pretty much Windows XP, but in a good way.
