About upgrading software

Hi everybody,
Just something I'd like to share with you.
My desktop PC is quite old, about ten years, and I found that newer versions of programs were too demanding, and severely slowed it down. So I stopped upgrading.
Last week I thought: "what the heck, why not give it a try" and upgraded Firefox from version 3 to 15. To my surprise, it turned out to be even faster! It seems that the people at Mozilla did a good job at making their code more efficient.
Moral: new software is not always bloatware. Maybe I should try upgrading my other programs as well.
