organization ?

I am a really disorganized person trying to improve my organization skills.
The biggest / hardest things to keep organized are
papers , and computer / electronic components
This thread is more focused on the later i.e components
I have boxes that work for things that I don't use very often but I would like another level i.e
Some storage thing to allow me to easy access the things I uses alot.
I run into the problem alot of times mixing old stuff that I never uses only need rarely with stuff I uses alot
Though it is all semi-organized I don't lose anything and eventually can find it the problem lies in I would like to seperate the stuff I uses alot from the stuff I don't use alot.
So I can "Quickly Find/Uses" my commonly used stuff.
Any suggestions or storage area devices that you recommend for computer cords , stuff to keep power adapters with the correct devices, cables with the correct devices ,....etc etc
I presume you will say labels but even with this I run into the problem of putting it into the right place for easy access. I.e if it is in the lower part of the box then it is harder to get at but some times the shape of the storage area restricts me from storing it into the most awkward area thus defeating the purpose of finding it easy even if I label everything.
Any suggestions on how to fix this organizational problem?

Well it would be nice for a disorganized person to have a tool or product that he could program to the postion
where it should be placed and after the item is used and he is done with it. It beeps or flashes until it is placed in the proper places.
I believe if this was done maybe this type of reinforcement could train a person to become organized or at least if not that keep everybody organized to some extent a little more.
To bad its not available

What might help would be to make a little cupboard or pigeon hole for each device/cable/etc. which is exactly the right size and shape to hold it so that each thing can only go in one place and won't generally fit in other places. The most important thing though is just to have fixed locations for each thing, and never put them anywhere else, although you could have a box for things which are waiting to be put away in their proper places when you have more time, and every time that box is full you will have a rule that you have to put everything in it back where it belongs straight away. If you do that, you'll only ever have a few places to look: the place where the thing should be; the box where it will be if it hasn't been put away properly the last time you used it; and the place where it might be if it's actually in use already.

thanks great idea
making it so you can only put one thing in one places reinforces the organization habit positively
I will give that consideration ... though I have to say I have to take baby steps since if I go all in I usually doom my self to failure
Little by little though

If you can write an OS, surely you can design an efficient organizational system. Beyond that, it just boils down to willpower. Just look at it as a technical problem like any other.

History taught us he can't write an OS and contraposition just figured out why
Reduce problems. Buy storage containers.

TO Combuster
First of all I find it harder to organizes.
Another thing I love about this is you have people and **** think that what defines hard is writeing a fucking little toy os. **** I can write one in my sleep.
If you only saw the limited devices I am useing I dare you to do better .
Anyway don't piss me off I am bigger then you and can squash you like an ant.
please get angry and say some stupid pointless remark I could give a **** about....
You know there is harder things out there then your toy os's don't get me wrong I am into it to but you don't have to criticizes. :O
Every hurried the saying of if you cann't post something that is going to aid the person , or add value such as constructive criticism then shut the F up
And for your info it is more important to understand how to write one then actually banging keys on a key board and creating one. Since I can tell a 7th grader type this here then write this ...etc There is no knowledge gained unless he truely understands what he is doing it for just typing skills. Though I agree one should type a toy os out once or twice to get the hang of it and see common errors that can follow from writing one. But this only is after a complete understanding of the concepts and rules. With out concepts ,, rules , theory everything would be chaos. people running around in monkey cages.
I simply don't care about peoples wrong beliefs or thoughts or opinions just gain there perspective and extract the good leave the bad its the only way to fly LOL

Obviously your lack of control is the source of all your problems. And if it's actually that bad, get yourself a household assistant or a similar person with a psychiatric education to help you stay in shape. If your parents are oldfashioned in raising, that might be a good substitute measure as well.
And that's not to troll.

Come on, people - no need to fight about it! We all have our defects and disabilities - otherwise we'd all be perfect at everything and the world would be deadly boring with no opportunity for any of us to shine. Sam111 clearly has difficulty organising things and needs to find ways to get round that: we've seen it over and over again in his posts where he has difficulty asking clear questions, but he always gets there in the end. We just need to be patient with him and treat it like any other disability rather than treating him as if he's stupid on the basis that it isn't a condition with an official name. There are dozens of unrecognised syndromes which many of the people here suffer from, but the upside is that people with such difficulties can often be spectacularly gifted in other ways. I know of someone who's completely incapable of making lists, but who is perfectly normal in every other way, and high-achieving too - judging her by her inability to form the simplest of lists would leave you thinking she's stupid, but she can wipe the floor with most people when it comes to doing mathematics.
