GIMI - Cool little multitasking DOS GUI written in QBasic

I came across GIMI: http://home.arcor.de/sebmate/gimi.htm

It's a cool little multitasking DOS GUI written in QBasic.

It doesn't multitask DOS programs, just it's own GIMI script programs. I still think it's impressive for something written in QBasic.

wow, this is actually kind of awesome looking. DOSBox doesn't seem to want to cooperate with it for me, but i'm going to put it on my old 486 and see how it is. this is pretty creative for QB, with the multi-tasking of scripts as programs. i have a soft spot for QB, even if it is pretty crappy. i grew up on it.

even though it wasn't very powerful compared to writing stuff in C, if you really knew it inside and out you could still make some quite professional and useful programs.

I miss the old school 320x240 graphics. Take a screenshot of a modern game, resize it down to 320x240 (or 430x240 for widescreen) - everything feels a lot more blocky, solid and arcade like.

Even the highest resolution textures look blurry on a 1920x1080 up close - a highly detailed rock sitting on top of an overstretched ground looks out of place, yet in 320x240 it looks realistic and solid.

Just as some people hold onto 24fps for nostalgia - I sometimes play my games in 320x240 for that solid arcade experience (in 3D too with Nvidia 3D Vision).
