Most important development book to know?

Today i have decided to full read and write a paper (paragraph per chapter) on an intel manual in my free time. I believe it not to be worth tho, being its 4000 pages. Unless it is i will go on and write summaries for all chapters. Is there a manual or book more worth my time in importance?

This is a very subjective thing i can name a few but others might disagree, flipside i might disagree with their list.
On the wiki there is already a fine list, check it.
