memory for dell 2350?

I am wondering why this computer is working with 2 x 1GB sticks of memory?
The sites like Crucial list that it's max. amount of supporting memory is 1GB.
2 x 512MB of memory.

But I used instead of 2 x 512MB of memory 2 x 1GB of memory and the bios seems to look like it supports the 2 x 1GB of DDR memory because it list the amount of memory as 2048MB

Maybe the site is working?
Curious what the max really is. This machine only has 2 DDR memory slots so unless the make bigger then 1GB increments for DDR memory I guess it would be 2GB.

Look here at the memory spec's for it
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/s ... /specs.htm

Tell me I am not crazy and you can have more then a max amount of 1GB of memory.
Because my bios say's 2048MB memory but I am wondering if the system cann't use it only 1 GB and the bios is displaying it correctly but system cann't use it for some reason only the 1GB can be used. This is very ODD.

It's probably just that the specifications page you reference was written before the existence of 1GiB DDR RAM modules. It's not hugely unusual for computers to support more than their "maximum" supported amount for this reason.

Just out of interest, what responses were you anticipating? There's no (sensible) question in your post...

I just was curious why you could use more memory then usual.
Never ran into that situation before so it was a little different.
Normally alot of memory is alot more strict in a machine. (i.e must be mobo specific ,...etc etc )
So why not think that it would work with all the hardware and circuitary it has to be compatible with?
Like replacing RIMM their is alot of issues

Anyway thanks for clearing this issue up.
