Congrats to the developer of SolarOS. If you look closely during the trailer for TRON Legacy it is the OS running on the touchscreen computer.

Well... my SolarOS version 4.0.1 is not yet released to the public...

I wonder how did they get that copy of it from the future?

Maybe the movie trailer is fake or edited ? :P

Ok had to watch that preview at a place with flash player..

Are you sure this is SolarOS? What I've seen didn't look like that... maybe someone could put an up to date screen shot here or on the SolarOS website?

bontanu says it's not his Solar_OS so if I had to guess I would say it's a pseudo-OS: a program (if even that) designed to look technical but only serves to provide looks. Why they chose "SolarOS" I don't know (nor why 4.0.1) unless there's another SolarOS project out there...

Calm down guys. I think it is a hoax. The original trailer does not have the SolarOS name in it and probably the movie/link/site is made up just for exploiting or as a "fine joke".

But I have to agree the the fake images do look like SolarOS (concepts and future plans) a little and that was slightly dazzling.

And IF the TRON trailer does contain SolarOS name then I have nothing against it. After all this is a kind of free advertisement for Solar_OS and I am OK with it.

Now... I have to forget movies and go back to work inorder to make SolarOS 4.0.1 look like that :D

Just came across this and I'm still wondering... Did any of you saw "SolarOS" written somewhere? That's how it sounds like from your posts, but I looked a few times at the trailer and saw nothing like that. The HD/HQ files are blank, so I couldn't check them.

It flashes by really quick (i.e. about a second or two on screen) just after the guy brushes the dust off the screen. You'll probably need to pause it to see it the first time. I saw it with the one embedded on the site.

You can download the actual MOV files here (I think you should right click them):

http://wdmp-7.vo.llnwd.net/d1/wdsmp/TRO ... 8_High.mov

http://wdmp-7.vo.llnwd.net/d1/wdsmp/TRO ... 00_Low.mov

http://wdmp-7.vo.llnwd.net/d1/wdsmp/TRO ... _1080p.mov

http://wdmp-7.vo.llnwd.net/d1/wdsmp/TRO ... 2_480p.mov

------------------------------------------
The links that are listed aren't blank files, when I opened them they contained XML with embedded URLs for the actual video streams:

Judging from the screenshots, that's a unix system there. The terminal in the background is running "top", while the one in the foreground executes "/bin/iostat", with the output following. These are both real *nix programs.

I'm guessing this could be a real custom GUI over some unix system, possibly SunOS because of the name similarity. Otherwise it's just some image made to look just like a unix system.

Edit: 4.0.1 is an actual release of SunOS, released 1988.

Hehehe. I was looking in the wrong place. Is actually just under "$ bin/iostat".

Didn't think of that, thanks ;). Now I can see it's about 21:49:17 on that PC :P. Ah, and it's been up for 8 days.
