I added a piece of information on
VMWare wiki page. It is about the VMware Player 3.0 which is free and great. How come ppl did not want to use it?

VMWare Player provides no way to actually create the virtual machines, if I'm not mistaken. That's a good reason not to use it already.

I used my own hands to create a new virtual machine in VMware player. Could it be wrong? Note that I'm talking about *version 3.0* and above.
Still don't believe? Then watch this
It is Windows version

Yes, VmWare Player (latest) can create and edit virtual machines too, and it's free!

The only problem I noticed, IIRC, is the lack of complete control over the VM settings. I used to use VMware Workstation trial to create/edit the VMs and VMware Player to test them
.

If you just set your date back after it expires, you can keep using it. Probably suffers from the old Norton trick too. Set the date ahead to the farthest possible date, install, then set the date back to normal and you now have a free copy of VMWare Workstation that wont expire until 2099.

Nah, I found out that the only limit if it's not registered is running the VMs... So I was using VMware Player for that
.

Good idea. But you can save about 300 MB of HDD if you install only Player. To get more control over the VMs, simply open .vmx files with Notepad/Gedit or whatever editor you like

I think the player is annoying in appearance, it reminds me of the god awful media player, but what I found was that it is smaller in size and faster to load and it's free, so you don't need to muck up your date. If you create a VM using VPC2007 you can have it converted using vmware, maybe with the player too. Took like 5 minutes.
