Troy, the fact that you think that a PCI modem card is old is really worrying. I'm still installing them in new PCs!

Edit: I also just noticed that it's a 16-bit ISA card. Slightly older, but still not a computing relic.

This is my 1992 A600. Boots from a 880k floppy in about the same time a modern PC boots Linux, into a preemptively multitasking GUI. RGB, composite, or RF video out; 4-channel 8-bit stereo audio out; floppy drive; PCMCIA port; gfx resolutions from 320x200 (32 colors from 4096-color palette) to 800x600 (4 colors). 1MB RAM, expandable by 4MB in trapdoor.

If anyone asks you why Amiga ultimately failed, show him this thingy. Seven years after the original Amiga A1000 was released, and with almost identical specs as its pre-predecessor...

It worries me that Troy cannot tell the difference between PCI and ISA, if I ever had to use dial-up again.. I would likely have to use an ISA modem, PCI modems aren't typically standardized.

I have a vast collection of old parts and complete computers, some working.. some not.. but I'll just post the one I have handy, my broken Tandy(..Radio Shack) WP-2.

It has an 8-bit Z-80 at 5.5296 MHz, 256K ROM, 32K RAM expandable to 64K.. and a few miscellaneous external connectors, like a serial and parallel port.

I even have the original owners manual, as seen in the tiny blurry picture below.

You could either use a 9v AC/DC adaptor, or 4 double A batteries.

Darnit. I had an A500 and A500+ and tons of equipment (among others, a monitor, diskette drive and orig. Workbench), but sold them [DARNIT!].
My parents had a ZX 80 but lost it, and my friend sold me a C64, but I sold that as well (was probably broken anyway).

So all I really have left (besides the drive for that NickG's disk on a 486 in my basement) is this quasi vintage.:
1. Potato-like joystick for Amiga (resting on a clicky IBM keyboard ftw).
2. A Z80 tape with bunch of games on it (usually paranoidly wrapped up in Aluminum for protection against EM , hehe).
3. List of the above mentioned games (sry, taken with webcam, my camera's just coming back from Prague).

Hey, I'm neither a hardware geek nor would I have any idea what's the difference in hardware between the ISA bus and the PCI bus.

Although I do now after reading a good chunk of the Indispensable PC Hardware Book

I have what can only be described as the pinnacle of mobile computing...

Or maybe not.

I use to have an Apple IIc, but then my mom gave it away or something, I'm not sure, but the next time I went where it was, I had found system disks and other assorted apple treasures, but came to the sad disappointment that the hardware was no where to be found.. very sad.. (I tried programming it in hex with putb or whatever that was interesting)

maybe I'll post the pics of the disks or something later.. (oh, also have the full manual in basically mint condition)

Hey ucosty, Does your PC convertible work, mine has a problem, so i took it apart, just to find 5 pennies laying around inside the convertible, but yea, whenever i try and start it up, the screen just has lines go through it

Does anyone know why it is having this problem??

Because i just recently put dexOS on a 720kb Floppy but then the laptop(PC convertible) started doing weird things before i got to boot into dexOS

Grab some canned air and blow the dust out of it. Should work. Blow the dust and crap off of the contacts and stuff around the processor, onboard video generator, and memory chips.

Ive tried that unfortunately, Maybe it is just shot from being sooo old
anyway
