I really like (apart from the dying battery) my MacBook Pro. Developing an OS on it is very easy. Bochs compiles without problems. I've got Qemu too, but tend to use Bochs.
My OS dev has stalled for the moment. I'm in a thinking phase while I travel to work. I'm thinking about IPC without having to lock the kernel. Next screen shot will be full of "A"'s & "B"'s

Other then my (non-functional) battery warping and scaring the **** out of me starting to sizzle, I love my mac. With X11 sharing & VMWare fusion, you have (seamless/near seamless) integration of Windows, Linux, and OS X

I use parallels and crossover pro/games, and having never used vmware i can't say whether i think it's better or worse. but i can say my Mac is AWESOME!
apart from the "burn the hair off your legs" kindof attitude you get from a bit of hardwork, It's great. I've now began to forget how to use window
seeing as parallels hides the windows desktop and crossover uses X11, i have no need to look at the "reduced quality" OS
non-HD on a HD screen is never a good thing.

I have vmware fusion to run WinXP and Linux. It's only just occured to me that I should try my hobby os on it. Funny how sometimes you can't see the trees for the wood.
I recently added RAM to take the MacBook to 3GB of RAM to smooth running a VM and other apps.
Enough fanboyism, back to the day job

yeh, i love doing that... gives me something to work for...
i wish i could afford one of them round about now, but in a few years time, the hardware will be upgraded once more and the second hand XServes will be on eBay for a lot less. until then, my MacBook shall serve me proudly.
On another note, iPhone OS release is in 12 minutes. CAN'T WAIT! WOOOO!!!!

probably. i'm getting it straight off Apple's servers anyway. i think they're coping quite well atm, although that's not to say they won't crash and burn.
I was shocked to see how many people on the Apple Discussion Forums who had no clue of when it was being released. i spent 5 mins looking around and worked out the time. turned out to be right. and everyone was flaming me for explaining how i worked it out and no-one believed me... I AM GOD! Listen to my COMMANDS!

I have the update downloaded and ready but I can't install it! The activation server is down so iTunes won't install the update. An annoying observation: it unpacks the 230 MB zip file and then checks the activation server. I would have done it the other way around to keep from wasting time.

i ike mac because of what the can do with only 256 bytes!!! or kbytes i forgot

remember the old macs (or apples?) it could accept 128kb ram (soon after it was then 256kb) im talking late 70's early 80's
anyway about
how they could fit gui and all of the interesting stuff in such small memory?

i would too, remember though, different processor, so its defferent then mapping memory on an 8086, 80186,80286,80386, and so on.

mine went fine without a hitch, but my dad's took a few tries but was fine within 15 mins of updating. apart from that just one problem with Wi-Fi connections which i've reported to apple anyway.
I'm loving the new iPhoneSDK although a 2gig download is a bit OTT especially seeing as i already had the 2.2.1 SDK and all the tools installed. but atleast it installed and worked
another great apple product. Just gonna wait another year for the next iPhone (hopefully 4G + all features of 3GS and more) and i'll upgrade
