I dont know if this is the right forum to post this. I was wondering if anyone had a copy of MMURTL in PDF and could e-mail it to me at [email protected]. I know you think this is scrouging but I am a 13 yrs old and have a very limited budget!

This my friend would be illegal, And probably against the books Copyright..

Besides from what I hear it's rather old... The source code from the book is public domain. (Just not the book text itself..)

(Based on that site, They have/had intentions on making the book public domain at some future date.. I have no clue if or when though..)

I noticed the first post:

When i drive into town, i see a lot of graffiti on the streets. One of the big debates i have going on in my head when i see graffiti is, is it Art or just a mess?

I have recently been working on a web site for Collinson & Co. They are chartered accountants & registered auditors. They required a web site so they could broadcast themselves further around the globe and get recognized. So i had to meet this demand. The site is in its very early stages so i will not be posting it on the net yet!

For a thirteen year old you are pretty advanced!

So I click on the profile and notice that I am not looking anyone who is thirteen years old in that picture..

Is there any way this could be explained?

There's lots of free resources, and most of the OS books aren't really very special. I've not read MMURTL specifically, but I wouldn't bother going to the trouble of getting a specific book, especially as it seems that most OS books are good on theory, but the practical side tends to be somewhat outdated.

Depending on where you live, if you have a university there, maybe they'd let you access their library? You might want to check if they have any OS books there. Libraries are wonderful resources when you're low on resources. At least here (in Finland) one can get a library card to most universities basically by asking, and if not, at least they allow anyone to read books within the library. Might vary depending on country of course, but might be worth a try.

The sad thing is, I recall emailing Tanenbaum once when I was 13, asking for a copy of OSDAI for free. No response. Surprise?

I dig ditches for a living. I work in the hot sun like today. The top of my ears are sun burned. So why should I be surprised? And, in any case the guy in the very first post really ticked me off with the I am thirteen years old and then a picture of himself on the site. YSMF.

I told him the books code was public domain, How is that getting conned?

I don't care if he told me he was from mars, I had no intention of giving him the book.

He was probably trying to appeal to human sympathy.. That my friend is called social engineering..

It was wrong for him to manipulate someone like that, but I'm guessing he believed it would win someone over.

I was thirteen! What do you want? Do you actually think I went and thought it out? (They need more emoticons. There are none for a 'comical yelling' tone.)

I once heard that MMURTL is bunk anyway.

First Off. When i am talking about going into town, who said it was me driving? I could be with friends, parents, bor -sis. So your first point doesnt mean anything.

Second. Collinson & Co is my dad's company and he wants me to do a site for him.

The picture on my portfolio is a stock photo, and that is not me.

So, you really should think about what your saying, before you make accuations!
