Sometimes old technology is good because it is faster, keyboard is normally faster to use than the mouse for say, typing. It's the same for software, if the new software is slower for no appreciable benefit then don't use it. On the other hand in the case of Chrome, there is a immense benefit in usability and speed, so in this case, innovation is good.
