Re: Site Updates (still in progress)

As I've already said, I'm working on it. The theme stuff is totally different different, I'm having to remake it from scratch. And you can't just change out the colors in the CSS because the images don't work then.

I'll look at adding the last post topic back to the board index. If you guys remember this wasn't originally part of the last board, I added it in. However now that I'm giving you more themes to choose from this is going to be a little bit more work since it requires a template edit of every theme. Something I don't want to start until I'm finished installing themes (mtDark).

I had the favicon in place but the mime type wasn't set in apache, it's fixed now. You might have to clear your cache. Thanks.

Hmm, Looks like this can be disabled in the UCP on a per-user basis..

I still think it should be done globally but I'm just picky. ;)

Sorry for greedily demanding changes chase.. ;) My apologies. 8)

As popular as the threads were about screenshots of your OSes were I figured it was the next logical step :)

No apologies needed, just trying to stop the flood of "me too" posts since I'm already working a some of this stuff.

As for taking away features like the friends and foes or the youtube stuff; Lets add in all the features we want and get used to it before we start taking things away.

There really are some cool new features, in particular I really like the Jabber support. Instead of an email for a watched topic I get an IM. Works for an Jabber, Jabber federated servers, or GTalk. The account that sends the message is [email protected] in case anyone needs to allow the IMs.

I think the key problem here is that not everybody has flash installed, putting up flash would seriously confuse those people. Apart from it wasting everybody's CPU time whenever they're looking at a page with one. (Then think of quote-quote-quote-quote structures) No flash +1

OK, how about another suggestion? Maybe have a great big brightly colored button at the top of all the forum pages (maybe on the right side, across from the OSDev logo?) that says: "For answers to every question you ever had about OS Development, please visit the Wiki!" ... Maybe that would encourage everyone to look there, first.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.

We already have stickied topics and all that. Stupid people will always be, just as they're characterized: stupid. ;)

Putting a distracting sign at the top of the screen will just cause annoyance.

Hi,
can we have a board style, like MT board style?
The man who follows the crowd will usually get no further than the crowd.
The man who walks alone is likely to find himself in places
no one has ever been before.

I can't take it anymore, the next person that asks for this gets their style permanently set to the "Oh My God, Ponies!" style! ;)

I'll probably have a "usable" version of the MegaTokyo style sometime tonight.
