Mark a piece of text, paste with middle mouse button. Standard feature of most (if not all) X11 applications.
Every good solution is obvious once you've found it.

Now that's the spirit of this thread. Make a mistake, gain some knowledge. However, I think your (sprints) submission was more editor driven, which in the early days of this topic might have passed, purely as filler, however, I have moved past that sort of advice and I'm now looking for things more involving mistakes you've made while programming an OS. Things like, when I was programming <OS specific code>, I was originally doing it wrong but I found that if I did this or that, it worked, etc. And, of course an explanation of why it worked and why it didn't work would be nice too. Thanks.
