Heh. When logged on, at least on the default theme (which I have), your picture is shown on the right side, not the left

- Ain't I an odd-lookin' one?
Too bad you couldn't see what I was doing on my laptop at the time: That's why I quickly computer-edited it!
- Well that's a crappy insert.

Heh...
We've got kids coding OSes. And they say programming is hard...

Yes and no, you do create a hell of a big program, but you have to write EVERYTHING yourself, even if you're using the BIOS in real mode.

We're getting OT here, but I'm curious why you've chosen that design... sure, it's backwards-compatible and it's easier to write - maybe hobby OSes are not necessarily meant to be that complicated, it depends on the author. However, there's a lot of stuff you're missing out on; as for the backwards-compatible thing... do you know anyone who owns a PC that doesn't have pmode?
Also note that there can also be bugs in firmware...

Nope, your point?
Also note that there can also be bugs in firmware...
Yeah, but finding a workaround for those bugs is fun.

My point is that I would want my OS to work on current hardware, not arhaic hardware. Don't get me wrong, I'm not telling you what to do; a hobby is supposed to be fun
If you want to design for the 80186 that's great. Not my first choice but you shouldn't give a damn about that

I just love screwing with things that the average joe (even the average programmer) doesn't have a clue what it is but appreciates it anyways.

That pretty much sums up OS development altogether.
