I just think it's sad... I mean my area isn't that bad, but it will be a week ago tomorrow since it hit... lots people are still without power and water, and are getting MREs (Military Ready to Eat) from the government, etc. ... It's also sad because it's the country's 4th largest city, it's might affect us some... The government is handling this much better than Katrina, though. There have only been 11 arrests in Houston for looting!

Though I live 10,000km+ away (possibly more), I recall a show on TV that warned Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne would be completely underwater by 2010... Nobody yet seems worried...

No worries, if we notice we're going to be underwater soon (ie, water levels rising constantly without stopping) we just move further inland, or up to Toowoomba or something :D.

Back on IKE, it's wake is pretty intense. I feel sorry for those who had to evacuate the area.
