Hello,
I saw that the thread entitled 'mp3's' asking for free mp3 download was closed, but I didn't know why? Downloading ILLEGAL mp3s is ... illegal, but there are, on the Internet, very respected and LEGAL sites (like download.com - music section) that propose LEGAL mp3s that the artists themselves provide for free.
PS: This doesn't break the forum rule 'No posting warez site links / serial numbers etc' since it is legal.
The thread 'mp3's'
Re:The thread 'mp3's'
The reason it was closed was because 90% of the time people are looking for illegal mp3's, not legal ones. And the poster didn't make any sort of comment to make me think that he was looking for legal ones, so it was locked.
Re:The thread 'mp3's'
Didn't personally read the thread in question, but based purely on both arguments presented here:
I'd just like to say, I'm with Chris on this one - when in doubt, moderate toward keeping the hosting providers happy!

Re:The thread 'mp3's'
Well, most every forum I know (that is properly moderated in the first place) would close a thread that requests MP3 sites without specifically qualifying that specifically legal sites are of interest. So just a hint: always say that explicitly.
Anyway, you might want to check out mp3.com, although I don't know if it's any good since it was sold. The old pre-sale mp3.com archives are now with garageband.com which also seems to provide hosting for indies, so that one might be of some interest (it feels somewhat similar to pre-sale mp3.com actually
