I have, but with my brothers or challenges to kill time on camp when I was not a leader yet. Just not real fights... errrmm... brother fights were real, but they're easily won (especially when they get me to go berserk)

ha! i dont know whats wrong with me, but im afraid whenever i see a fight... i wish i could make this go away and be brave and stuff. but when i see a fight, i get nervous and stuff. i havent been in one yet. but one time a kid came to my house with a friend and 2 of my friends cause he wanted to beat me up or something (which was my fault cause i was making fun of his friend) and i got scared so i just sat on the couch where they couldnt see me. then i told my mom when she got home and my mom yelled at them which embarressed me.
anyway, what im saying is, i would probably be scared **** if i got in a fight. like when i hear people making fun of me (which doesnt happen a lot at all) i kinda get nervous. if they started pushing me i would be really nervous and scared. i just want to be braver when it comes to fights. this is going to be my first year in high school in a week or so, and i want to not be scared or anything. there is probably going to be a lot of fights, and within the next 4 years, i may get into one, and i want to get ready. i think i know how to fight, i just want to not be afraid anymore. can someone please help me? ive really never told anyone any of this before...

@joey: it is ok to be somewhat afraid of such kind of trouble. sometimes you'll have to stand and fight your part as best as you can, sometimes you have to decide it is better to let guts be guts and run away.

i just wish i was braver. i dont want to be a coward, and if i get in a fight, i want to be able to fight back which i will not be afraid. i know how to fight i think, im just scared i guess. im afraid to go to high school, cause i dont want to get beat up or anything. no one really makes fun of me but sometimes there are assholes that do. i just dont want older kids picking on me and stuff.

Joey, here're a few things that can help you.
1) Before a fight, try to look as confident and calm as you can be. This'll put fear in the weak-hearted and lowers the morale of the others. It's a good way of staying out of fights (although it might look as if you're getting yourself into one with it)
2) Everyone's nervous when they have to fight. Just don't show it. This leans onto nr. 1 too.
3) Fear can be undone by doing stuff that'll give you more confidence in yourself. Do stuff that'll make you see what your body and mind can take (like climbing a really high tree, a survival-weekend in the woods, digging a really big hole and such. Just see what you can do in your neighbourhood)
That's about it, I think. Look confident, learn how strong body and mind are and avoid battles whenever you can (be it by words, tricks or fleeing). Look at my sign. It's not a shame to run when it's necessary.

You know, I've been in a few fights, and I've won about half of them. The whole fear thing with me is absent if I'm just sparring with a friend, because I know they won't deliberately hurt me. Also, if I get struck first, I usually get so angry that I just attack, which isn't wise, because technique and self-preservation are the first things out the window. However, in the few cases where I have been threatened first, I'm scared. Really f***ing scared.
I remember this one time I was rooming with an ex-convict who was a former crack dealer. He was shorter than me, but outweighed me by at least 70 pounds. He ate mostly meat and eggs, and lifted weights. BTW, I weigh about 145 lbs.
He had this weird retarded girlfriend, and they were always screaming at each other. One day, he was yelling and the two were crashing around. I thought he might be hitting her, so I went upstairs to see what all the noise was. He wasn't hitting her (he was looking through her purse to see if she had other men's phone numbers), but he was so insulted that I interfered that he demanded to go outside and kick my @$$ for me. I accepted. I brushed my teeth, put on my combat boots, and went downstairs to wait. When he came down, I went into a classic three point stance (footwork), threw my glasses to the side and stood my ground. He started poking and shoving, but I didn't move. Inside, I was quivering jelly. My knees were shaking. Thanks to the three-point stance, which provides excellent balance, this big, slap-boxing ************ couldn't even move me. After he yelled at me for a bit, I started screaming at him, accusing him of being fucked up in the head and always blaming his problems on others. I had pushed past the immediate fear into my anger, but I hadn't struck him. Suddenly, before I had even finished screaming, he turned and ran back upstairs.
I had won the fight of my life-time without striking a single blow. I was still scared as hell, but my legs soon regained their strength, and I was able to calm down.
Later he apologized and gave me free beer and ****...

That's the way it should be. No need to hurt others when it's not unavoidable. Andrew's way to finish the fight's better than beating someone to pulp. The guy wouldn't understand what he did to deserve it then, making the fight an utter waste (ignoring the fact that that girlfriend's... well, more or less helped. A boyfriend in a hospital isn't exactly every girl's dream)

Could you tell what should be the body posture for the three point stance. Wanna learn it out.

Make sure your back is straight, your knees are slightly bent, and about 2/3's of your weight is resting on your forward foot. The diagram is for a typical right-handed stance, but the left-handed stance is also necessary at times. Keep your shoulders back, with the left hand slightly forward and the right hand slightly back. More elaborate stances can and are based on this basic stance (like single-whip posture and the traditional kung-fu and karate stances). Experiment with what feels most comfortable and what gives you the best balance. Generally, if you feel you are going to lose your balance in this stance, just transfer your weight to the other foot, lower your waist (your center of gravity), or shift weight, then slide your feet into a three point stance of a different angle to the attacker.
Good practice for this particular stance is riding busses and city trains/subways while standing without using the bars for balance.
