I nearly always use google because it just finds things exactly the way I type them. I really only use Altavista to translate stuff with the Babelfish ;D ...

Google sometimes gives hell results that i dont want. I thought that it was the query i am giving wrongly.

But i started using hotbot with the same queries it went superbly. I think my queries are not for Googling. By teh way though hotbot uses Inktomi and has a smaller database than google, i perhaps think that its directory is the best maintained among all search engines. ;D

Having seen Inktomi used in a large intranet, it has either improved a lot, or HotBot does some special magic...

I haven't tested HotBot myself in years though, since I'm perfectly happy with Google. Long live PageRank.

if I want to search something I ALWAYS use Google. It's the best. Google rocks!!
