It's similar to *g* or *fg* or *mfg*... it comes from German, where *g* basically stands for "grin" . More g's mean a wider grin, *fg* stands for a "fat grin" , *mfg* for a "mega-fat-grin" ;D. There are many more kinds of combinations of it ::)...
