probably released and then reports from other unhappy people are that it's buggy.

or maybe it's yabbse 1.5.0 BE (buggy edition)

some of the bugs are just bugs that nobody tested. ie, mark all boards as read button, does not work...

lots of stupid ones like that.

you can tell they didnt test it. :)

so i'm not going to test it for them. hahah

It was tested, but just because it was tested doesn't mean it is bug free, there are some things that got through... it's a shame, I left for a week and 1.5.0 is released before I got to try it while it was still in beta.

Also you should not that the beta testers are average users not YaBBSE developers or such.

Out of curiosity, df, have you considered switching to phpBB?

In my experience, it's a ton better at handling lots of posts and users than YabbSE, not to mention it's admin interface is nicer IMO.

hmm dunno... i dont want to loose any of my info... i see there is a 1.4.0 (and not 1.4.1....) converter... shrugs.. dunno. if i thought phpbb would use less bandwidth, i might switch..

1.5.0/1.5.1 is meant to fix the speed and code of YaBBSE, the structure of the database has been improved, it uses less queries(saving bandwidth and making the board faster), as well as optimized queries and code to help with bandwidth and speed as well. That is basically what the whole 1.5.0/1.5.1 releases was supposed to be about speed and optimizations increases.

i looked at phpBB, wow, very nice, slick. looks a lot more robust than yabbse..

i tried to convert my board as a test, but my yabbse board is too big to convert properly :) hahah fun.

if i could have converted the board over, i would have moved across to phpBB... as it is, the conversion queries take too long asnd timeout, so I cant reliably convert... even after trying to look at the conversion script....

Basically log_topics is a log of all topics that have and havn't been read by all of your members. It can get quite huge, what I recommend doing is emptying the table then tell everyone to press the mark as read button at the bottom, that will clear out all those logs.
