The absolute truth, Joey, is that a varial flip is a much easier to do than a kickflip. The problem most people have is the landing, like you said, your feet land behind the board. The nice thing about the varial flip is that the board moves so you don't have to move your legs way out there.
The way to do it is, well, first, you have to be able to do a shove it, which is pretty much the easiest trick out there. You just kick your right foot back and down a tiny bit, while at the same time jumping in front of you, because the board shifts to the right. Then, once you've mastered that, just add a flip to it, remembering to jump forward.
Yesterday I landed a double varialflip standing still...That was a damn good hour O0 Of course, it'll be a cold day in hell before I can land that moving

i forgot to post my "trick list" lol.
lets see, i can shov it, pop shov it, ollie ::), 180 ollie standing still, half kickflip to casper (not really that much of a casper), and thats all i can think of at the moment.
