Ah, finally somebody who knows what he's talking about (too lazy to quote df)
I like oi the best. It has power in it, which's hard to find these days. It's all distortion or sappy. It doesn't even need to be loud to have power in it (see 'First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin' by Leonard Cohen or 'Perfect Day' by Lou Reed) It's just a shame oi's being mistaken for agressive fachists. It's also a shame that I don't know any groups that actually play oi. I just know the style from other groups who have some oi-songs (like the Toy Dolls)
any other bands like toy dolls and greenday. i mean with the GOOD guitar stuff. not this new **** like disturbed and the such. only disturbed and the such isnt punk. ::)
Right now, I'm looking into the Dropkick Murphy's. I don't know them well, but you can try them out. Also try out Lou Reed. It isn't ska or good punk. It's rock (remember 'Take a walk on the wildside') He knows how to use his guitar too, without using spoo. If you want spoo, try Yngwy Malmsteen, although I can't recommend it (because it's spoo)
Yet another one who didn't read 'the great Frank Zappa book' (that's the title, you won't guess the author)
Spoo is when you're wanking your guitar. An example is the little volcano. It's playing higher and higher and higher until it erupts and you go down real fast. Yngwy uses this all the time.
are the dropkick murpheys good? ive heard of them now. my friend told me about them. i think they swear huh.
im really starting to get into punk. does anyone know some bands that are good punk? The Casualties. anyone heard of them. i dont really like them. i only heard one song though.... it was really fast though. i mean like fast guitar notes and stuff.
Try 'De Heideroosjes'. They have some Dutch songs, but also lots of English ones. I consider them to be the 4th of the Great (Ramones, Sex Pistols, Clash) If you like punk, you'll like de Heideroosjes.
I first saw the dropkick murphys on some late night music show. They are pretty good if you like the old school punk like dead kenedys, misfits, afi.
I also like the new punk like new found glory, new november, thrice, the starting line, finch, rx bandits, home grown. I suggest checking out drive through records.
I also like hard rock like slipknot, slayer, system of a down, blindside, etc.
