All off topic discussions go here. Everything from the funny thing your cat did to your favorite tv shows. Non-programming computer questions are ok too.

University Study Field

Post by siavoshkc »

I studied accounting as my major field in university which is completely irrelevant to OS development. But I put a huge amount of time in learning stuff about it.

Is anyone else in the same situation?

I wouldn't worry too much about CS/IT qualifications. Tommy Flowers only had a certificate for an introductory course in Information Processing comprising DBase3+, Excel, Wordperfect 5.1, Paintbrush and Pagemaker. See http://youtu.be/JF48sl15OCg?t=55m41s. 60 years previously he had designed and built the first electronic programmable computer. Just imagine being his teacher on that IT course!

I want to know how many people here studied a field irrelevant to computer science.
