Nintendo Kills Gameboy

Post by Robin Gravel »

:'(

Hi everyone.

Nintendo says that Gameboy still alive. Yes? No!

So why I can't found new gameboy games who working on the original gameboy. Many of them work only on Gameboy Color.

Once Nintendo will release Gameboy advance
to North America, say bye bye to Gameboy Color.

If after that Nintendo still says the gameboy still alive, I don't trust him.

well GBA looks really nice (kinda retroish, looks like the old single screen game+watch games)...

lots of gameboy colour titles still in the works.
but yeah the old b&w gameboy titles are loooong gone.

i wouldnt mind getting a GBA but they are charging waaay too much $$$$ for one here in the uk right now. ?>:(

Hi Df.

The last games for b/w gameboy I saw was Pok?mon gold and silver. Maybe Pok?mon puzzle is the very last game for monochrome gameboy.

I heard about Pok?mon crystal (japan) works only for Gameboy color.

What a shame for gameboy (b/w)  users.

I hope that Nintendo will not say "the gameboy is still alive". He's all wrong.

i never liked B&W gameboy much. i have r-type dx, which has b&w versions of rtype1+2 and colour versions.

havnt heard about pokemon crystla being colour only..

still, gboy was good in its day (look how long its lasted!)

i hope gboy colour lasts as long. a bit miffed that its basically just a SNES in a handheld (like gboy was a nes)... i'd have hoped for something stronger.

the wonderswan is very nice!...

I bought a gameboy at the end of 1990 and a lot of games.

Super mario land, super mario land 2, warioland and warioland 2. Castlevania 1 and 2. Lethal Weapon, Krusty's fun house. Tetris (enclosed with gameboy in 1990). R-Type (1991), Spiderman, Hook, Catrap. Pacman, MsPacman, Darkwing Duck and others games.

I still enjoy to playing theres games. Sometime some my friends still borrow my gameboy games in this day and played them to their gameboy or Super gameboy.

The b/w games don't disturb them.

Yes. There are the other portable games like Neo Pocket and Wonderswan but Nintendo still rules.

hmm well i only have 4 game carts (prince of persia, super mario dx, rtype dx and bionic commando).

prince of persia really ticks me off, coz i always die at the first swordsman on level1!! how bad is that. (on the pc i kicked @$$ in it....) its so frustrating to have to go all the way back to the start...

rtypedx rocks but you get the occasional dissappearing tile bug that the GB has when you get lots of sprites on screen at once...

i'm not a pokemon fan so i dont have any of those rpgs on my gbc...

i did want to get the "dragon quest 1+2" cart but i couldnt find it anywhere....

Just throw away your gameboy and get a gameboy color unstead.

If everyone doesn't like new technologies like you (Robin) we still playing Atari 2600.

Yuck.

Hi Manon.

I will not throw away my gameboy because a paid $180 bucks for this handheld game and still working.

Some stores, you may find used gameboy games to buy like Wal-Mart.

Hi DF.

I own 31  gameboy games, 12 super gameboy games and 6 color gameboy games but still working with the original gameboy monochrome.

Yes. After all Gameboy is still life. IBM continues making computers. I still play Epyx's rogue on Pentium II but don't expect to play Half Life with a PC or PCjr.

Yes. You can play any gameboy games with gameboy advance but can't play gameboy advance on preview gameboy machines.

The cartridge of the gameboy advance is smaller than gameboy. Maybe to prevent everyone to play gameboy advance on gameboy.

That means, Nintendo will not plan a dual boot to play gameboy advance with the original gameboy or gameboy color.

Yes it is. A Super Gameboy game has more colours than Gameboy but you can still play Super Gameboy game using a black and white gameboy.

Speaking about Gameboy , I heard that some people has problem playing old gameboy games using a
Gameboy Advance.

Myself, I have a gameboy and a gameboy color and I can't play Pacman and MsPacman on Gameboy Color because of the sound problem.

I bought Pacman and Ms. Pacman around 1991-1994.

I know Namco has made a new version of Pacman and Ms. Pacman with more colours for Gameboy Color and
later for Gameboy Advance.

Yes. Super GB and GB games are the same.

GBA uses an emulator to run old games. That's why it is sometimes difficult to run older games. Also, the GBA is dealing with a different architecture, so it is not just the size of the cartridges that is keeping you from playing GBA carts on a regular Game Boy.

Don't worry, though, because there are emulators for all the Game Boys and you can run them on a PC.
