I've seen on on a few web pages, and on one of the members' signiture, but can't find who thought it up.

It's in the Jargon File, in a slightly different form, but the quote was never attributed to anyone. I'm guessing it was esr.

If the C language has the power of assembly and the ease-of-use of assembly, why not just use assembly?
