Reading the entire internet ?

All off topic discussions go here. Everything from the funny thing your cat did to your favorite tv shows. Non-programming computer questions are ok too.

This page gives an estimate of the size of the internet at 5 million terabytes, or about 5 exabytes, or 5*10^18 bytes. Assuming that all of those bytes are text, and that a character is one byte and a word is 5 characters (1 word = 5 characters is the assumption used in calculating typing speed), that comes out to around 5*10^18 words. Assuming a reading speed of 250 words per minute, and that you are reading nonstop without sleep or food, it would take 7.6 billion years to read 5*10^18 words.

So the sun would burn out before you finished.
