GNU/Linux Distribution Timeline Assistance

Hi guys! I've recently took up a project, to be built on top of the GLDT, which involves, predominantly, installation files of old versions of Linux. If anybody has any which aren't readily available online, please message me that you have them, or email me on [email protected]

What's the point? Linux isn't really old.. both source and binaries are still widely obtainable on public servers.

berkus, frankly, I'm getting mighty wound up by you. Must every last post you make be in some way insulting. Have you got a competition going on, when you're not coding, to see how pissed off you can make people. Seriously, it is really beginning to screw me over. Frankly, admittedly, you are a lot cleverer than I am. I can't shy away from it, your OS is further along than mine, you've been here longer than I, and I've no doubt you're a lot older than me as well. But honestly, every last post you've made has some degree of sarcasm, intolerance or outright bigotry about it. Seriously, it has to stop.

And, Brynet-Inc, to answer your question, I am sort of doing it for the 20th anniversary. I am well aware that there are FTP sites out there, and I have found a few of them, but I was wondering if anyone had found any I hadn't. Perhaps, if I specify specifically which versions to look for:

In particular:
Old versions of Slackware (<10.0)
Initial versions of Debian (<1.1)
Any FTPs that you may/may not know of
Any exotic/minor distro, that has been swallowed up (Tirwal, for instance, is a good example of this)

Any other useful information would be appreciated, but those are the specific ones I'm looking for. It will be an ongoing project, for the GLDT, but I have mainly decided to do it for Linux 20.

Trolling is about purposefully setting up emotions in people for just the sake of it. It is not about being a moron (which is why rdos is usually not a troll), nor is it for flaming or other abuse (which is why I can't call berkus a troll in this case).

@Berkus: if you feel a need to voice an opinion, at least motivate it instead of sticking to single word GTFOs because the latter does not help anyone. I was this close to reporting your first post here for that very reason.

berkus: if I overreacted, I apologize. I am under considerable stress at the minute, with multiple large deadlines looming. I have exams in January, which contribute a heavy % to my final grades, and I have a student organizer to code, for the Android, iOS, Blackberry, Windows, Mac and Linux, in the space of 2 months. Adding to this the burden of the remembrance service this weekend, and job hunting, and the pressure is really on. Family illness and misfortune doesn't help here. I know I overreacted, and this is no excuse, I'm sorry, but I hope you can at least understand. But I also ask, while you are entitled to your opinion, that you post something more than, as Combuster puts it, "single word GTFOs", as I would at least like to know why you disagree, so that I can improve upon it. I can take criticism, so long as it is constructive and helpful.

lol .. Judging from berkus' comments ("The only person worth reading is Brendan and the rest is just newbies' spoon-feeding ...") it seems fairly apparent that helping out with the "journey" of newbies like yourself (and me) is not really a priority for him.

I hope Berkus isn't seriously thinking of leaving - his/her (bit of a mystery over that) comments are often highly amusing, and he/she (Беркус/Eleanore) certainly does care about helping people if it's possible that they're doing something worthwhile. If you're getting single word comments from him/her that sound negative it should make you ask yourself some serious questions about the value of the work you're undertaking - I'm sure that's what they're intended to do rather than being destructive or insulting, and if you still think your project's worthwhile, just plough on ahead with it regardless.
