It's something written by Dex, he is banned from these forums.. a quick Google search leads to a funny forum post demonstrating his obvious need to grow up.

Why not show some respect to an OS Developer?Brynet-Inc wrote:It's something written by Dex, he is banned from these forums.. a quick Google search leads to a funny forum post demonstrating his obvious need to grow up.

Because he has lost it. Just because he had an OS project---plenty of people have that---doesn't automatically mean he's fit to be part of the community.qandrew wrote:Why not show some respect to an OS Developer?Brynet-Inc wrote:It's something written by Dex, he is banned from these forums.. a quick Google search leads to a funny forum post demonstrating his obvious need to grow up.

I found the OS, thanks for all your input.
[off topic]
I am very surprised at the reaction you get, when anyone puts the name "Dex" .
I have done a search on the forum and can only find him/her helping OSDev's.
The only crime seems to of been that he did not kiss @$$ .
He/she has also done what many OSdev's have not, that is made a usable OS.
From my tests his/her OS's works great, do you not think as OSDev's thats what a person should be judged on, in a OSDev forum ?.
I am not sure i want to be a member of a community, that treats other OSDevs that way

Look, you're clearly new here, but thats not why he was banned. If you actually read the posts, you'll easily find out why. This community has its set of etiquette and rules, and if they aren't followed, prepare for harsh action. Forums need to keep control of what does on (consider forums that only allow people to join after they've applied). No, they should be judged on ability and etiquette. If you don't want to deal with reality, than oh well. But then, this is all off topic, and I haven't had coffee yet, so I may not be the best person to ask. From what i recall, Dex tended to simply give people the answer, and not help them become better at finding the answer themselves. But lets not get back into that discussion.guyfawkes wrote:I found the OS, thanks for all your input.

So your saying that, some where in the OSDev's rule book, it says.. "you can not give OP the answer to there ?",
And if you break this rule, you will be banned for life.

Re: Does anybody no where to find
I think what piranha is trying to say is that the point isn't to hand out code, but to help others write it. Just handing it out willy-nilly doesn't teach anything valuable to the receiver of the code. But tips, hints, and pointers help the troubled person to figure out what they need to do, thereby teaching them to solve their problems.

Re: Does anybody no where to find
No...you completely missed the point. Giving the answer is fine. Its the "give the OP the code, and not show why it works, how it works, or explain anything so that they can learn from it, and become better programmers themselves" thing. If your answer doesn't include an explanation or reasoning, then it wasn't a good answer (i mean, it all depends on the question, obviously). Answering a question like, "What port to I write to for yadda yadda" with "0x1F0" isn't a good answer because it doesn't include the information for the OP to fond things out for themselves. A better answer would clearly be "here is the link to the wiki page that shows you how to do yadda yadda, <link>". Granted, Dex's code had comments in it, but really - its better to explain something than to give the answer. Imagine if you had to learn calculus based solely on the problem and the answer, not the steps required to solve it.So your saying that, some where in the OSDev's rule book, it says.. "you can not give OP the answer to there ?",

Re: Does anybody no where to find
Do not get me wrong, i can see its not good to spoon feed OP and a more helpful answer would be to explain to them how it works.
But from reading his posts, his grammar did not seem very good. Maybe thats why he posted code.
Anyway i have said all i want to say on this sad lot to the OSDev community, whether most agree or not .

One's grammar does not directly correlate to their intelligence and/or logic.
