I agree; there are so many better ways to develop under Linux than to run it under VirtualBox. Maybe you should look at coLinux. It allows a native ELF-based, linux-ABI-compatible system to run alongside Windows. I haven't gotten around to looking at how it accomplishes this, but I'm sure it's very interesting from an OS standpoint.Owen wrote:I suppose I wouldn't mind too much, on the condition the emulator ran full screen. But non full screen? ugh.Troy Martin wrote:NickG: don't invite people to flame you by flaming/taunting them.
Owen: I use VirtualBox (virtualization) to run Xubuntu, on which I develop TBOS32. It's not that odd.

VirtualBox can do a co-linux thing with Ubuntu in the form of seamless mode; you get both your ubuntu and windows menu bars and crap, and the Xfce/GNOME windows are transparently overtop of your windows desktop.

Re: Post a shot of your dev environment
Doesn't the developer visit these forums? I think he'd resent that, especially since it seems the point is that it's featureful, yet can still fit on a floppy.NickG wrote:It is kinda weird that i use menuetOS, As it is a crappy little floppy OS, but it is kinda cool

I just use Cygwin on Windows Vista. I got a minimum Cygwin system installed, then I downloaded the latest GCC sources and built and installed them straight away without a glitch.
I found it much easier and efficient than booting into a virtual machine to access my dev environment.
