I use Ubuntu and CentOS at work. I prefer Ubuntu x64 for my personal computers.
I started with Knoppix, that was a nice OS (although a bit... German iirc). SlackWare is the Linux of choice for me on ancient hardware, or hardware without decent video support.

CentOS is pretty good, But yea, ubuntu is the best on top of openSUSE 11.0 and stuff like that

Ive tried puppyLinux, Not that into it, even though it was the first linux i tried

I've used it forever, I think they might have wine.pup package for it to... I think you have to manually compile it though :S

Performant, Clean, Great Hardware Compatibility, Excellent Backward Compatibility
Devoid of the number of useless packages present in free distros (bar Ubuntu, it's pretty clean), and with real media Codecs, JVM, etc. (unlike the free distros).
I need to add another hard drive to my development machine soon, so I can dual boot
