What os do you use?
Re: What os do you use?
Have been using Ubuntu for +2 years, but just got Arch Linux installed and it seems nice. Sometimes I have to use Windows for some things (school etc.), but thats not really very much.

Re: What os do you use?
I have 3 main computers that I use, one runs OpenSuSE 11.1 and Vista, Vista is the most used. This one I'm typing from runs Windows 2000, and my other runs MS-DOS 6.22 and NetWare 4.11, NetWare running most of the time. There's also a copy of OakumOS16, my real-mode OS that boots from DOS, on there, from last year.

I use my laptop which uses Gentoo Linux.
Current work on a OS: SauOS (project homepage: http://code.google.com/p/sauos/)
Re: What os do you use?
I run the following oses:
- Ubuntu on the enterprise (my main pc and dev machine)
- Ubuntu on the ***** (my laptop, I'm forced to keep vista installed because of warranty, but I've nicely commented it out in GRUB, not before it already received the not so nice nickname though)
- Debian Lenny on my TV-PC (I just love running at least 3 computers just to watch a shirt film.)
- Smoothwall Polar on my Firewall.
- MI-Kernel Test Images (off course)

Yes i do.nickbjohnson4224 wrote:What - nobody uses their own OS? I suppose I'm being a hypocrite (I don't use mine), but isn't this an OS development forum?

Re: What os do you use?
Ubuntu 8.10 (upgrading to 9.04 when I find the time). Dual boot with Windows 2000, long ago expired evaluation copy. Don't use that too much, obviously (though my wife uses it for e-mail).

I voted Linux.
I use Fedora (Linpus Light) to develop my OS.
But my main PC is a Windows Vista Ultimate where I do everything else than coding of my OS on.

Currenty use Windows XP x64 edition Service Pack2; I used before a LiveCD with knoppix distribution of linux but I do not use it anymore. Programming in windows is quite interesting (not so much as programming OUTSIDE os) but it is a nice hobby

Re: What os do you use?
Well, as my OS doesn't run much assemblers or compilers at the moment it's rather impossible to use it as an actual development environment. But my eventual goal is to use MI-Kernel as MI-Kernel's development environment. What - nobody uses their own OS?

Re: What os do you use?
I am currently using Ubuntu 9.04, It is the first version that supports ALL of the hardware on my new computer ^_^
I don't simply because it is not anywhere neer completion, and it sucks at the moment...What - nobody uses their own OS?

I would, but then I'd be stuck with a half-assed write command for text output and be forced to type in control codes and crap just to be able to write a hello world program from insideWhat - nobody uses their own OS?

Re: What os do you use?
With the possible exception of Mandriva, I can't log into Linux for more than five minutes without it making me spit blood. Shortly thereafter I usually find myself deleting the partitions it is sitting on. (Therefore I use Windows.)
