Do you sing?

Just curious. This is a completely random topic.

If you think you sound average you don't have to select "bad" or "good".

Embarassing fact: My girlfriend and I spend quite a bit of time on Skype watching each other on video, but not talking. One day as I was browsing these forums and listening to my MP3s I started singing out loud. My microphone was not muted. Ever since then she has wanted me to sing again. Nope. Not a chance.

I used to be on a choir. That was, until the hormones found my vocal chords...

I still sing, but not with the quality I used to do.

I was 1st tenor in high school and won a few awards at state/new-England competitions.
Most of the competitions were paid for by the school after I won my first two (they're usually like 200-300 USD just to go).

I sing in the shower, but I'm pretty bad at it. That's why I play guitar. :)

Me and my mates often sit around with a guitar and just sing - it's a great way to chill out.

At one point we walked through the main road of Toowoomba (smaller city near me) and sung songs - never before have I seen so many people look up and start singing along or bobbing heads!

Me personally though, me and my girlfriend often sing songs together. I also sing while I'm listening to music at home, and really let loose when the house is empty.

As for talent... Some have told me I have the ability, but I beg to differ :P

I thought I couldn't sing, for ages, because I always tried to sing along to what I heard on the radio - which is usually in the tenor range, which always sounded a bit off-key and made me lose my voice after one song or two. It took many years to make me discover that, when properly sung-in, I have a pretty decent bass voice, several keys lower than my talking voice, which I can sustain over a full evening of campfire singing.

Since then, I enjoyed singing very much, and do so when opportunity presents itself (i.e. "yes" on shower, car, and in the house.) I have sung for a (small, campfire) audience on occassion on medieval faires. Good friends of mine have a Filk band (second album just out); I'm still sad at not being around when that band formed, or - so I permit myself to think - I might be on it today.
Every good solution is obvious once you've found it.

Hey, you are missing an option: "I sing to my children". Of course, most of you won't have 'm :).

I like to sing. I've been told I'm good at it, and I've been told I suck, but I don't care either way. I think it's fun, so I do it.

Growing up, I was in my church choir. I occasionally had a solo (as almost everyone in the choir did, as long as they had some talent), and the church musical/choir director also gave singing and piano lessons (he helped me out a little with the singing, and I took 3 years of piano lessons from him). Every summer, the church choir and youth group would put on a musical, all of which were written by the choir director. These musicals were a lot of fun to be in, and in almost every one that I was in, I had a solo or duet. One year, I had the pleasure of having a major role, which meant lots and lots of singing. That was the last musical I was in, as the choir director left the church a couple of months later. I have all of these musicals on VHS, but I need to get them transferred to DVD since I haven't had a VCR for many years.

I gave up singing for a few years, as once my voice changed it took me quite a while to find my singing voice again.

I voted for "I sing (or have) in a band", substituting "band" for "choir", but I've also sang in a friend's band on a few occasions when their singer couldn't make it.

I also sing in the car, in the shower sometimes, whenever I'm home alone, and to my children. My daughter especially seems to love it when I sing to her, although my wife says I sing quite badly. Oh well, I just don't sing to her anymore. :)

I typically sing along to songs on my way to work.

I also sing at my girlfriend in the shower or when I'm making fun of her.

I Probably don't have that great of a singing voice, but I love making up songs (one offs that I never sing again).
