School's OUT!

All off topic discussions go here. Everything from the funny thing your cat did to your favorite tv shows. Non-programming computer questions are ok too.

School's OUT!

Post by pcmattman »

Hi everyone,

Just posting because I have just completed (and PASSED) my high school education, today. Partying my face off on the school grounds was way too much fun :D.

Anyone else done, or almost done?

Not much, but I recently finished a Certificate II in Information Technology. Not sure how widespread this qualification is, but for those not in the know, it's essentially a really basic qualification in things like troubleshooting a computer, basic networking diagnostics, putting together components, etc. I did it in order to land a job, and it worked. Next year I'm off to Uni to get a Bachelor of Science.

Enjoy it while it lasts. I know you propably can't hear it anymore, and can't believe it at this time, but you'll never have that much spare time again. That's assuming (and wishing) all of you will finish your education with success and a full-time job. 8)

I have a good shitload of subjects to fix. Some of them aren't on a very good status: math, biology, geography, chemistry. Aw crap. Never had a C in a school report card in my life... that would be horrific. Yah, first year in a grammar school. :P

Solar, thanks for the advice. I well and truly believe it, so I'm aiming to make the most of this time I have now. That means not spending every day coding, but getting out and doing something in the real world :P

Congratulations =D>

When I was at that stage I was going in to a gap year before I started university, just to get some experience in the world of work and to build up some funds.

When you get to the end of university (and any pre-registration years) and can get on with the job, you may not get much free time but it's good not to be under any kind of mentor any more :)

Cheers,
Adam

I just finished as well. What school were you at? Anyway, now I'm working at a software company over in Mitchelton (right near where the Army accidentally let out the nerve gas yesterday), until February when I'll be starting engineering at UQ.
