Anything new out there? I had to do a system reinstall because of a cursed mouse driver and I finally solved (i think..) why my PC would crash everytime when gaming, with BSOD regarding ati3duag.dll, pagefaults and such... I've uninstalled catalyst control center and kept only the display driver, updated WinXP to SP3 and installed all, even not necessary updates, then put the graphic card's fan to 80% by RivaTuner (as I read some revisions of Sapphire HD3850 had a faulty BIOS that wouldnt raise the fan speed along with the temperature...) so maybe that was the culprit - hello world gaming, again :)

Anyways what I see at the previews... let's take a little peek at www.sector.sk (non-English, link just kept for curiousity)

Wall-E. Looks interesting, but not my kind of games. That same for Portal.
FlatOut Ultimate Carnage. I've played FlatOut 1 some time ago and it was a great game. Personally I don't really like racing games, but I did make exceptions this time. Anyways, at the ultimate carnage version, the graphics seems to be very good.
Devil May Cry 4. Not my type.
Fantasy Wars. No no, Warcraft III was more than enough for me.
SBK-08 Superbike. Looks fairly decent, but nah. Not my type again.
The Incredible Hulk. Jesus. That's a real crap. Even the preview is written in a funny way.

Hmm... Nothing new :( But there will be a real fun when Mafia II and HL2: EP3 will be released 8) the question is, when.

Bump... :)

Demo of "left for dead" has been released on Steam some days ago. I've tried it yesterday and I must say that it was perfect, graphics, atmosphere, and no stuttering or poor FPS. :) Sadly the price tag is too high: 49.99$, I think I let it to cool down for a bit...

I've also taken a screenshot from the demo, take a look here. The demo was available for download from 11.november 2008 and I must say that the screenshot compared to real gameplay is nothing, it's more better if you tried it. But the demo is expired from now on and only the full version can be bought...

Now that the thread's been bumped I may as well throw my own gaming into the mix.

I'll play Half-Life 2 Deathmatch sometimes, though if I play any online shooter it'll be Team Fortress 2. Both are a lot of fun. I also enjoy playing the HL2 saga (over and over, blasting Combine soldiers is funzies).

I also fly virtually using flight simulation software - we actually have an entire online network for virtual pilots and controllers.

Apart from these games, I don't really play much else. Supreme Commander (decent RTS) I play every now and then, but it's hard getting used to having it run slowly (and I really hate looking at the awful "Lowest" graphics settings :().

Finally, somebody who's addicted to HL! 8) Yay, good days. Do you remember Ravenholm and the monk Gregori "Aim for the head"? hehe, it's fun to slice a zombie in half with the manipulator or blast the blue-eyed cop elite mutated whatever with the gas mask. They are always saying something but I can't understand them. Sounds like sped-up Terminator speaking in a walkie-talkie. :) Anyways did you complete the two episodes?

I've also tried HL2 Deathmatch through steam, I like it but it's pretty fast and I prefer CS 1.6 more.

I've heard that if you play the zombies sounds backwards, they're crying for help. I'm sure I've heard online recordings of this somewhere linked from another forum.

Cheers,

Yup, saw that on youtube: "dear God, help me" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXD2TrTo ... re=related (0:38). But in reverse original as it is, it sounds like "yabba my icing": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLdAZZWlgIA :D

Oh yeah... Ravenholm is one of my favourite chapters of HL2 to play.
Anyways did you complete the two episodes?
Yes, looking forward to seeing EP3 (when Valve get their act together). Until then I can be content making new content for Portal :P
I've also tried HL2 Deathmatch through steam, I like it but it's pretty fast and I prefer CS 1.6 more.
I love the fast-paced nature of HL2: DM, it really contributes to the concept of a DM. I think dying in CS is way too tedious. That's just me though :D

You've got that right, they keep us waiting! They have a freakin' good storyline. And from what I heard, we can expect EP3 somewhere in year 2009 or beginning of 2010... payback time not very soon (you know what happened in EP2 do you? ;) )

Yup, I prefer too that quiet monster growl followed by the electrocardiogram's loud *beeeee-eeeep* *static* *.."Protection team... "*

1. What was your first game? (Can be on a PSX, NES, arcade, etc), and in what year did you play it?
Probably Super Mario on NES :D
2. What do you play now? /e.g. shoot-em-up games, MMORPG, racing, can be a concrete name of the game/
I like RTSs & TBSs. I don't really play much anymore. Sometimes I play WarCraft III (DotA), but I'm waiting for StarCraft II and Diablo III.
3. How do you like today's game industry and programmers?
Sucks.
4. What game(s) do you like at most?
I loved The Longest Journey (promise to self - will try Dreamfall), Beneath a Steel Sky, Heart Of Darkness, Starcraft, Resident Evil 2, Heroes (I - III), Commandos, Red Alert, etc. (A lot of oldies, as you can see)
5. On the other side: do you have any games that totally were boring or stupid?
You bet. Can't remember any right now, though.
6. Do you like "old skool" games, like e.g. turning your dusty DOS machine on, or a 8-bit "PC" ?
See question nr. 5. I can still remember the Jill series, Dangerous Dave (2), Dyna Blaster, Prince of Persia (2), (Moto) Grand Prix, etc.
7. What CPU and graphics card do you own and are you satisfied with it?
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.8 GHz, nVidia GeForce 6200. Meh. Will probably get another system next week or so (Core i7-965 looks nice).
8. What number of games did you fully complete? (In GTA series, you can include that if you completed the main storyline.)
You can't be serious about this question. How should I remember? :)

1. Super Mario Bros. (NES.) I don't remember the year.
2. MMORPGs, FPS's, RTS's, anything not turn-based like Civilization.
3. Being a game developer myself, I don't think I can comment on that.
4. World of Warcraft, Star Wars Battlefront, Medal of Honor, Age of Empires
5. Yes. I think.
6. Depends on the game.
7. Intel Core 2 Duo at 1.8 GHz, and some crappy intel i765 GPU onboard.
8. Age of Empires II and xpack, III and xpack, MoHAA. And lots more.

Hi again,
I've made a left 4 dead video on the expert difficulty (singleplayer), the second level (No mercy campaign).
Take a look here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csDCZJg4DZs

Tough, isn't it? :) This is more better if you play with real humans (multiplayer over the net) instead of computer controlled AI, especially on higher difficulties (advanced & expert). The AI doesn't perform well on the expert mode, you'll end up face down sooner or later. :D
