Dental Braces
Just got braces on today, and so far, they're a b****.
Eating carrot (favourite vegetable) is hard, eating anything relatively crunchy is hard, etc. And half the sweet stuff I love I can't eat anymore.
At least it's a relatively short treatment...

Re: Dental Braces
I had braces throughout 8th and 9th grades. They were a pain, but they weren't that bad. The really bad part about it all, was that my teeth really aren't that much better because of them...

Yeah, I should have mine off by October 2010!01000101 wrote:I had braces throughout 8th and 9th grades. They were a pain, but they weren't that bad. The really bad part about it all, was that my teeth really aren't that much better because of them...
Getting them on is weird. They used a UV light to dry the glue after the bracket was in place, so that's painful on the eyes (makes the eyes do this: ).
My dad had braces on for four years. And around ten or eleven root canal removal procedures done since then.
Re: Dental Braces
I thought the UV light was awesome. A nice bright tooth warmer.
What I didn't like was the stuff they applied to the brackets that was what the UV light was drying. That putty->concrete stuff was nasty tasting lol. Getting them off was one of the weirdest feelings I've ever had.

Don't they give you shaded glasses when they're setting the glue?Troy Martin wrote:They used a UV light to dry the glue after the bracket was in place, so that's painful on the eyes (makes the eyes do this: ).

No, all I need is some straightening and setting a tooth into place.Stevo14 wrote:You don't have to wear headgear do you? That was the worst part for me. That and the plaster molding goo that they use when they make your retainers afterwards...
They gave me glasses, but they weren't shaded. They didn't look shaded, at least.AJ wrote:Don't they give you shaded glasses when they're setting the glue?

My teeth hurt. I suppose it's normal..
Eating peanut butter sandwiches with these things on is hard. Thank god I got a free Oral-B Vitality Performace Clean electric toothbrush with it! The thing spins so fast it's hard to get the toothpaste onto it without it flying off before it gets in my mouth

Re: Dental Braces
You put the toothpaste on, then turn on the toothbrush once the head is in your mouth .The thing spins so fast it's hard to get the toothpaste onto it without it flying off before it gets in my mouth
I've had braces for just over a year now, and they're coming off in a matter of months. Can't wait
Re: Dental Braces
My sister had braces, but I can't imagine anybody with the "headgear" thing...
Yay! Let's plunge someone's head into his mouth with the electric toothbrush!pcmattman wrote:then turn on the toothbrush once the head is in your mouth

Re: Dental Braces
Hi ,
I was bullied by tough senior boys when i was in 7th grade or so . They broke both my inscisors , I had to undergo some surgery ,the dentist put some sort of cap , so it doesnt really look that bad . The price i had to pay for being a little foolish and honest .
Regards
Sandeep
