OSDev logos

Post by chase »

If you'd like to see the OSDev logo swapped out to be something more modern we're inviting you to make a better logo. Both front page (http://www.osdev.org), wiki, and forum logos are open to replacement. Since there are multiple themes (styles) for the forums it's ok to submit a graphic just for your favorite style. We'll have a vote-off to decide which logos to use.

No trademark, copyright, adult images please.
chase wrote:By combining the power of 3 different Web 2.0 logo tutorials in to a single graphic I've created what is obviously the ultimate logo.

(in case you think I'm joking about it being a combination of 3 tutorials)

Now to get some venture capital funding or get bought by google....

Interesting logo... About time we changed from the old 'two squares' one imo.

The mtdark2 phpBB2 theme was by far my favourite, good work with the mega-tokyo theme you've put up (darker colors are easier on my eyes, especially when my IDE is white text on black background).

I really like the new logo, it's quite nice.
Oh and I noticed that the sort function for the member list has disappeared...

So the logo thing gave me some ideas... Here's what I came up with in about 30 minutes. (attachments) I got some inspiration form the Intel logo and went from there.

EDIT: Added a colored version (click to get full size).

WOW nice logo's how did you get the logo so realistically on the surface of that northbridge?
Though I think the best one website wise is the second because I don't like the feeling of a real photograph (though modified) as a logo....

SVG would be nice but something big enough to resize well would also work. Nothing huge is needed I think since everyone complained that the last logo was too big.

I used the rotate-zoom tool that comes with Paint.Net to get the right angle then I changed the layer mode to composite and made it a little opaque. And yes, the first is not intended to be the logo, I was just having fun. :)

If it's not broke, don't fix it. 8)

(Although, when I was little-brynet I liked taking everything apart with the excuse "I'm fixing it!". )

Here's what I managed to do in ten minutes. It's a bit lacking, but suggestions are welcome.

A banner, maybe...

If you have time to spare, go figure the hidden meaning of the background

P.S. the preview is scaled down a lot, opening it is recommended

P.P.S. My paint skills suck

P.P.P.S. the cake is a lie : D

You can use multiple programming languages. (Like Assembly, BASIC, C, and Pascal.)
