OSDev.org, now with more mods!

Post by chase »

You might notice we've got more moderators to help out around here now. There really shouldn't be that much more moderation going on, we just wanted to lighten the load of the existing moderators. Please welcome Combuster, mystran, AJ, and os64dev who will be helping out around here when their schedules permit.

You know the basic rules of moderator-ship : those that ask, will not become. Those that show they'll be a good moderator will become.

I'm just wondering, why a user named "kmcguire" is in the mods section and has only 6 posts from Nov 2004?

kmcguire posted here *lots* some time ago, but disappeared off-radar. He's got a lot more posts than that - it's possible he set up a new account.

The low post count is a little misleading. My actual account is "Kevin McGuire", but I forgot and by habit logged into this old account which at some point in time had the posts cleared a few years ago. I was just thinking he reset the post count recently (at first notice), but now I realize what has happened.

I log on and help sort dreadfully off topic threads into the correct sub-forum, withdraw spam, and confine eminently harmful threads. I read every post created, and it ends up being more work than fun. But it helps to do a great service to the community of this forum by helping with the above mentioned things, and that makes me feel good.

As from my posting history you can see that I have a vibrant character along with some occasional tumbles. Two of the most important aspects of my character is being able to see situations from different perspectives and improve my character. I feel this allows me to excel at my responsibilities as a moderator since my decisions regarding off topic, spam, and harmful threads pivots on interpreting people - and interpretation of people requires the ability to understand things from different views and improve oneself when they(I) are(am) wrong.

I am very outspoken and highly self-sacrificing to do what is ethical, moral, righteous, and favorable for the greater good. The work I do as a moderator is rarely seen or acknowledged and it takes a special person to do things with out requiring recognition or some point system. I feel very honored personally to be able to give something back to the forums!

I believe Solar was a good moderator at MT ,and I think he will be
good here too.
The man who follows the crowd will usually get no further than the crowd.
The man who walks alone is likely to find himself in places
no one has ever been before.

Solar actually was a moderator, but he resigned from that position.
